Ever since the Palm Pilot, there has been a drive to combine the organizing powers of a device like the palm pilot with communications technology. Thus the evolution of the first smartphones in the late 90s'.

Spin forward a few more years and you get the gigantic surge of digital music (mp3) and digital cameras and the whole slew of  digital stuff.  Somewhere during that momentous times came the ipod and changed the music space forever.

Spin forward a few more years and you get the popularity of GPS devices that enables anyone to roam freely without getting lost.

Spin forward a year or 2, and you get the launch of the iphone.  A truly revolutionary gadget that combines all of the things mentioned above!!  So thats really what you get with the iphone. And then shortly afterwards, the iPhone 3G which literally surfs on the digital waves of the 3G network that the phone companies have spent years putting in place.

So in short, take everything that I described above, and compress it into the space of a device slightly bigger than a pack of cards and you get the iPhone 3G.

- A Music Player
- A Digital Camera
- A Digital Video Camera
- An Organizer (Contacts, Meetings)
